National Geographic Calendar / Award Winning Project

National Geographic Calendar
This project won a Gold Loerie at the 2010 Loerie Awards &
a Silver at the 2010 Sappi Think Ahead Awards.

National Geographic aims to educate their readers in order to inspire them to protect the planet.  We chose to focus on the threat to Africa’s endangered species in our calendar.  The calendar is designed in such a way that, as the weeks pass, one can see Africa’s most endangered animals literally disappear.

The look and feel reflects National Geographic’s objective tone with the straight forward handling of type and very structured, simplified layout and imagery.

Designers: Chrizanne van Breda, Marize Engelbrecht

With each week that passes, a perforated strip is torn off, revealing shocking facts about the featured species of that month.
