Local design magazine, Design Indaba is launching a new quarterly magazine that focuses on emerging
creatives, as well as young design trends from Africa and the world. This magazine can be seen as a sub-
brand of the current online environment.

For this assignment students had to create a magazine cover as well as a masthead for a local design magazine

RATIONALE
For my cover page I chose to use images of an old house phone and a more modern phone, I did so because the name of my magazine is “The Cut” which means staying up to date with the trends. I chose to use phones as this is something that is constantly being upgraded and changed as the world itself changes. my slogan also ties into the meaning as it tells the viewer to make room for a modern change. The word “ CUT” is orange as well as the house phones, hinting that the older phones are what was replaced by its modern counterpart.
