I was asked to do a poster for a seasonal skateboard tournament and instead of the usual "skaters doing typical skateboard stuff" illustration I had the idea to do it like a modern, digital version of an early 20th century socialist realism poster, just to spice things up a little bit.

This was my first time trying this weird, crude manual halftone shading technique. I was, basically, experimenting with different options in search of the one that would give me the most manual control. Can't say I completely pulled that off here, but this was an important step toward mastering it eventually.

I'm only showing the illustration part of the poster because of several creative concessions I had to make to keep the client happy that I wouldn't have made had I had full creative freedom. However, the full poster will be made available privately upon request.
