For their 2010 Homecoming, Lyon College wanted to go beyond just sending invites to its former students. We suggested a PURL microsite to go with the 6 x 11 postcard. The big challenge with the PURL turned out to be fitting all the elements on one page, so as not to lose interested parties to links taking them elsewhere.
I had to fit an enormous list of events spanning three days, a selectable list of events visitors could sign up for, shirt-size selection (but only if they were actually attending), a form to update their contact information and even a section to recommend a student to Lyon College. Multiple pages wouldn't work with the PURL software and I wanted to avoid having one extremely long page. I solved this by creating intuitive sections via separators and tabs. These revealed only as much as was necessary to get the visitor to quickly understand what they were looking at and how to see more if they were interested.
