I chose these bay windows in my apartment as a my brilliantly designed thing for today. I find that the way the windows incapsulate the space is very pleasing to the eye. There is a panoramic view that is not found in normal windows. You can sit and enjoy a view without feeling like you are trapped in a box. They are airy and freeing. They are also brilliantly designed because they are a highly recognizable element of design found in buildings in the bay area.
I chose my planner as an object that reflects my personal identity. I enjoy organizing and planning and the print and color way of this planner brings joy to something that can otherwise be tedious and stressful. My favorite color is pink because it is a joyful and soft color. The pattern is dainty but still wild because of the florals.
I’ve grown up around the San Diego zoo my whole life. Something that always caught my eye, especially as a child, was the parking signs that had animals attached to the lot numbers. I didn’t really think of them again until we watched Design Canada and the man who originally used animals to help organize a parking lot talked about his experience. I now realize  how genius it is to do this. Not only does it help people remember where they parked, so it’s useful, but it also is whimsical and fun to see cool animal drawings when you are on the way to a zoo. Small things like this make the world a more fun and happy place.
This is a screenshot of the intersection between 32nd ave and Noriega in the sunset not far from here. I think this street is poorly designed because Noriega is a really busy street yet only 32nd has stop signs. I think streets like this are really frustrating because the busiest street has no stop signs and the slower cross street does have stop signs. People who are trying to cross are put in dangerous situations and it makes it really hard to find a safe time to cross. One way to solve this is to make busy streets a four way stop or only put stop signs on Noriega because less people cross/drive through 32nd.

I would say this is a clever and brilliant use of typography on this iconic album cover for A Tribe called Quest's 1993 album The Low End Theory. The font is organic and earthy in afrocentric colors, it feels naturally placed there because it falls along the body shape that is created using negative space. Nothing about the typography feels forced along with the graphics, it all feels and looks natural, as if it belongs together.

I adore this work by the Vignellis. The fact that they stack perfectly is a great example of excellent design because it is easy to use and also sparks joy. I have seen these before because I love vintage dishware but never realize who they were designed by.
For my sustainability designed product I chose these boots. These are my favorite shoes i have ever owned. They are real leather and were made in the 70’s. I bought them from a reselling site called poshmark. I’m sure that several people have worn and loved these boots before me because they have some wear but the form is still perfectly functional and perfect to pair with a vintage floral dress :)
I chose this as my brilliant subversive political ad because it's a spoof of the Obama “Hope” posters. This is a comical parody, which is something lots of people respond well to. But it is also showcasing the very real feelings of lots of Americans who reject Donald Trump as a politician and resent that he was our president. It's brilliant because Trump is very different from Obama, the word hope in this bold font is empowering and optimistic whereas the word nope in this bold font is overwhelmingly negative.
I find airbnb’s slogan to be brilliant, effective and creative. The slogan highlights the most important part of the brand that differentiates it from other ways to stay and visit places, the ability to be in a house in a neighborhood surrounded by a community of people who genuinely live in that place, rather than in a hotel filled with other visitors. Air bnb’s whole advertising method is convincing people that being immersed in a community is more valuable as an experience, rather than being confined to a hotel that was created for visitors. There slogan encapsulates that by pushing the idea that by staying in an aibnb you can belong anywhere rather than just being another tourist staying in a hotel. The ad campaign features pictures of locals in local spots enjoying life, elevating the slogan even further saying you will have an immersive experience filled with local people therefore more exclusive experiences.

I decided to showcase 2 collages I created when I was about 18 years old. The one on the left was created only by me, and the one on the left was created with the help of an old friend. The process of making these was finding magazines (lots of art and music magazines) and sorting through them and finding images that really stuck out to me. Then finding images that I felt fit together and told a story. After that, composing the images in a way that felt organic and fun. The final step is using modge podge and gluing them down. I actually like to put a layer on top as well to make sure none of the images peel off over time. I think these collages really encapsulate my style both in design and life, they are fun and flirty and eccentric while also organic. I created these collages surrounded by other people who were also collaging and laughing and listening to some really great music and I think that energy really allowed me to feel free and non critical of my art which is something I think lots of people struggle with.
I chose this water footprint quiz as a well design educational product that teaches the impact of climate change. I think this is well designed because it is not sad or gloomy but actually comes across as fun. It’s an easy user interface and asks fairly simple and lighthearted questions. But while the taking the quiz you are faced with the realization that almost everything we do and consume in the modern world relies on water. This makes you dive deeper into what we know about what. Like where it comes from, how much clean water the world has, if living this way is sustainable, and what we would do without all this water. I think being faced with these questions along with the results of each quiz has a profound impact on the user and opens each user's eyes to things they might not have thought about before, without shoving facts in their face or giving a lecture on the importance of clean water conservation and access to clean water for a
I often feel stuffy in museums but this Art of oise exhibit on the 7th floor with all the vibrant blue dressings and eccentric art made me feel like a kid in a candy store. I adore the designs of all the album covers from the 60s,70, and beyond. It was hypnotizing.
This is the first thing I saw that really stuck out to me. The characters are very reminiscent of Tim Burton characters, to me at least.  I love the purple alongside it, it feels kind of like halloween vibes. Standing alone it is a bit eerie, but alongside the other posters it feels more fun and bright.
