Material studies in cutting and removal, compression and tension, give rise to the scheme for a four-story, six-unit residential project. As lateral bracing walls push deeper into the building, the density is distributed, opening up the plan of the apartments. While the majority of the south facade provides direct light to the more public programs of the residences, the private spaces exist deeper and are lit by lightwells created within the constricted walls. Access to the units is provided at the rear of the building, against a party wall, binding the stacked apartments together.
