Particularly in some southern states of Mexico this day is celebrated in a peculiar way and full of meanings, where altars are set up to the dead, in which they usually place food, candles, incense, liquor, flowers, photographs, music and personal belongings of the deceased; offerings that are prepared with respect by relatives to remember those who have already left. Sweet skulls, dead bread, dishes that were to his liking, drawings that make fun of death; verses that ridicule living characters in the arts, science, or politics are part of this tradition.

All this in order to welcome their dead very well, since those days according to tradition are when people who have left can visit once again their loved ones still alive.

It is such an old and nuanced tradition that Unesco declared this festival a cultural heritage of humanity. Alluding to this great tradition, I made three representative illustrations of these days, where I try to capture important elements of the festival such as: folklore, food and music.

They are illustrations made only with stylus on thick opaline and mounted in black frames to highlight the content.
