In 2022, I got a chance to create the poster for Soumyajit Majumdar's debut Bengali feature film titles 'The Homecoming'. A hearty tale of a reunion of a group of friends who started their journeys as a college theatre troupe. Emotions run high as old rivalries and relationships ignite feelings of loss, abandonment and nostalgia.
Drawing inspiration from my experiences as a member of theatre troupes during my college years, the concept for this poster was born from the eclectic mix of memorabilia on the pinboards in our rehearsal space. Featuring a diverse mix of photographs, event passes, doodles, love notes, and post-it, these pinboards captured the vibrant spirit of friendship and community witnessed during the gatherings. The poster design aims to evoke the same feeling of belongingness, innocence and the nostalgia experienced during those carefree college years.
