MD.H – Rebranding pitch for a university

The Mediadesign Hochschule für Design und Informatik is a private university of applied science in Germany with focus on film, games, design, fashion & management.

This corporate design was created for the Mediadesign Hochschule (MD.H) as part of a pitch for a rebranding in 2018.

The starting point for the redesign was the old MD.H lettering with the
blue dot, which was reduced to it's rawest form.

The "Theinhardt" will stay as corporate typeface and it forms the cornerstone of the branding in which the dot is a square.

This black square can become many things:
One of the basic geometric shapes which always play a central role in design, a frame symbolising the university's facilities and the students who fill this frame with life.

The square is a canvas and analogue just as it is an interface and digital.
It is a symbold for structure and the grid of our design system.

This makes the brand flexible, dynamic and modular in the sense of a modern
corporate design.

Every department of the university has it's own symbol which is always a fitting glyph from the corporate typeface e.g. Media- and Communication Management have quotation marks.

Theses symbols can be combined with an outlined square, the initials of set department or the MDH initials to form different logo variants for different occasions.

The MD.H logo with it's bordered rectangle can be used as a frame in print formats as well as a grid for a interfaces e.g. the new websites.
