North Ponto Night Photos

who what why
These photos were taking at North Ponto Beach in Carlsbad CA from 9:15 to 10:30. The streets were empty and not many people were at the beach so I did not have to worry about people. In the first photo I wanted to show how disorientating it can feel to walk around at night. As I was walking around the beach area I was blinded by the street lights and the constant changing of them. To achieve this I lowered the shutter speed, raised the ISO and aperture. I used rule of thirds to make the crossing sign and red light side by side. I slightly moved my camera as I took the photo to get the lights to look like their all over sky. In the second photo I wanted to do a close up of stickers behind a beach sign. Using my phone flashlight I used one hand to shine the light and another to take the photo. The focus was the "HUGE" sticker and "SECRET SURF SHOP" since those caught my eye. Along that I wanted to create an illusion of two gate wires with shadows although it was only one wire. In post editing I made sure to keep the photos dark to make the colors and lights pop. I had so much fun shooting these photos and this has been my favorite photos so far.
