BLUMEN
Project development starting from the analysis of a natural shape.

The object is inspired by the complex structure of the Blumenbachia Hieronymi or Blumenbachia Insignis flower, and in particular by the shape of the open capsule of its seed.
The seed's capsula was photographed in a vision from above by the photographer and sculptor Blossfeldt, who gave a linear and extremely geometric picture of it.

  SHAPE AND FUNCTION

BLUMEN tray style keeps the geometrization of the shapes, turning to one central point following a spiral, and combines them with soft lines and durable materials.
BLUMEN can be used as a lunchbox and it is also decomposable thanks to the five containers lying on the shaped turntable. It results in a double benefit: the tray can be rotated so as to facilitate the catching-up of the foods in the bowls, but the same bowls can also be raised and then recomposed freely, because they all have equal shape. The central compartment can be used as a container for toothpicks, forks and other tools.

  MATERIALS AND FINISHINGS

Materials are lasting and completely natural: the base and the braces are made of birch, beech or walnut wood - in a lighter-darker colour order, from the softest to the most resistant.
The bowls, instead, are white glazed ceramic. The wood element is covered and protected by transparent polyurethane varnish that keeps wood veins visible and, at the same time, allows great resistance and easy cleaning.
