Infinity modular earphones - concept

The design of headphones with the purpose of repair and disassembly. This project was born as a statement to the throwaway culture and to inspire people to try repairing broken or damaged products instead of discarding them.
The chrome bars are to be pushed inwards, allowing them to be removed back. This in turn grants access to a gap, providing leverage to seperate the two shells. From here, faulty connections can be resoldered as can damaged parts be replaced or customised.

Additionally, I wanted to achieve an inviting aesthetic for disassembly. If they looked difficult to take apart then the consumer may be put off the concept.
Part of the development process is shown above. As illustrated in the final sketch page, everything is customisable, from the in/out ear function to the colouring of materials. Not only can this be done pre-purchase, but well into the product lifecycle to maximise its use.
