Redesigning a dress

Observational Research Data
After completing the observational study, I realized that a very small item could have the potential to have a significant meaning to the user. The subject of my study was my friend. I asked her to help me by sharing me some pictures of items that she would use in her daily life. After that, I analyzed these items and created a table. This helped me understand her better and realize that I should be more aware of the people around me.
Shared experiences
My researcher and I had a simple conversation through a communication app.

At first, we chatted a bit about our respective consumerism. my friend is more willing to spend money for the appearance of an item to the exclusion of other factors, while I occasionally consider the impact of price and practicality. Then we talked about our respective favorite music. She's studying Spanish in university, so most of her favorite songs are also in Spanish, while my song list is almost entirely Japanese. We both rarely listen to Mandarin songs, though. Finally, we discussed our expectations for our future lives. She hopes that she can live a leisurely life, because she doesn't need to worry about money, while I prefer to do what I love and fight for it.

I'm actually not surprised by this conversation. My friend and I don't come from the same family background, so we don't pursue the same things, and that affects our interests. That doesn't stop her from being friends with me though, on the contrary, this conversation has helped us understand each other better and has made our relationship better.
Research preparation
I finally decided to redesign her dress, so I asked for her input regarding her expectations for the redesigned dress.
Research data
I think I probably chose this item because she and I have the exact same dress, so it was good for me to think about how to redesign it.
No.2 Designs
Sketch 1:Sketch 1: Lace Style Dresses
Lace style will be more elegant and it will emphasize the individual. It is very practical for people who have to attend events occasionally. With camellia jewelry as decoration, it will elevate the whole dress.

Sketch 2: Cute style Dress
Because a lot of dolls and cute elements are added, it is very good to emphasize the user's personality, complete with showing off their personal preferences. At the same time, the weight of the dolls will give this skirt more texture.

Sketch 3: Vintage-inspired velvet skirt
Keep it simple and look more dignified with just a belt as decoration. The color blocking looks more eye-catching

Sketch 4: Rustic Dresses
I used sunflowers because I think my friend is as cheerful as a sunflower. This design is not too exaggerated, and it will give a ladylike feeling when you wear it out on a daily basis.

Sketch 5: Yellow Princess Dress
If the sleeves are cut off, it can show the line of the arms better. The gauze design looks like a princess in a fairy tale, and the belt made of vines also makes it look more delicate.

Sketch 6: Tight Top
The top half of the body is skinny for a nice slimming effect, and will look even more sophisticated when paired with sleeves. The pink color looks cute too, and it will be playful if it is paired with a striped plaid, which is just right for the user's style of liking cuteness.
The 5 collages
Collage 1:
The theme of this collage is elegance. I used a lot of floral embellishments because I think women are just as beautiful and individual as flowers. At the same time, I used some vintage materials, such as satin bows, leather bags, and lace heels, which can be used to show the elegant side of women. Letters were used to convey information, and women who could write letters with beautiful handwriting in those days were very elegant.

Collage 2:
The theme of this collage is fluff. I used a lot of plush toys and used elements of feathers. Plush gives a feeling of reassurance and comfort, and a piece of clothing should give that same feeling.

Collage 3:
This collage is more on the theme of cute style icons. I used a microphone and record as accompaniments to the bow dress that surrounds the subject. The whole collage is heavily filled with cute elements, as well as the microphones, records, and cameras that idols have to deal with on a daily basis.

Collage 4:
The theme of this one is princesses. Although it is a princess, the design is quite ordinary. This is because the subject I used was Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson.Belle is solidly a princess, but she started out as ordinary, so I used the most mundane of bows and buttons to embellish. The gold lines are the dividing line between when she became a princess and the mundane world. I think every girl in a pretty dress becomes a princess.

Collage 5:
The theme of this one is sweetness. But sweetness also carries personality, with unique patterned high heels and leather designer bags representing this rebellious impact. Pink is a popular color for girls, but it won't be a representation of softness, so I used a lot of feminine elements to express that sweetness can be powerful.
The final Collage
In the end, I decided to incorporate elements from three of my favorite collages to make up this fluffy and sweet dress.
This dress has some warmth due to the addition of fluffy elements, which reduces the need for too much warmth in the winter time and does not make you look bulky. The floral element represents elegance and beauty, and as I always say: every girl is like a variety of different flowers. The element of the bow represents sweetness, and when wearing this dress one will not find it stressful.

M:Hello everyone, today I'm going to present about my design. Since my research subject expects to get a dress that can show her personality and can be worn on many occasions, I designed this dress according to her personality. Due to her family, she is a very elegant person, so I almost always use bows and flowers as materials. She also loves cute things, so at the same time I decorated her with some removable furry plush on the dress, which not only makes the wearer look cuter, but also has some warmth properties so that she doesn't need to wear a lot of clothes in the winter and won't look bulky.
