Weightlifting Platform - Design & Build
I was introduced to barbell athletics through CrossFit. From there I decided to focus on the Olympic lifts (the Snatch and Clean & Jerk). The name of the sport is "Olympic Weightlifting," and I'm (obviously) not training for the Olympics. I work with a coach who sends me a weekly lifting program and helps to refine my technique. For the past five years, I've trained between three and five times a week. Training sessions typically run 90 minutes, incorporating Olympic lift complexes, squats/deadlifts, and accessory strength exercises.

Weightlifting requires absolute focus from an athlete. Equal concentration is required in applying technique and strength. Imagine refining the technique of a golf swing while deadlifting 300lbs, and you'll get the idea. I've played many sports over the years. Weightlifting is absolutely the hardest, and the best. Every training session requires an athlete to summon the best version of themselves to meet the demands of a training crucible.

The photos below show the weightlifting platform I built in my garage. I created a K monogram design based on my middle name, "King."
