Queen Manthatisi Artwork

Queen Manthatisi
This is a portrait of Queen Manthatisi.

She was the leader of the Tlokwa people during her son's minority from 1813 until 1824. She came to power as the regent for her son, Sekonyela, (Lents'a) following the death of her husband Kgosi Mokotjo (the previous kgosi). Mmanthatisi was known as a strong, brave and capable leader, both in times of peace and war. She was referred to by her followers as Mosanyane (the tiny one) because of her slender body.

This is one of the series of work I usually make to pay tribute to history figures
of great significance but not enough is written about them.

This is a way for me to have some who want to know to start looking up
information
Enjoy

Scanned Pencil Sketched. (To be used for artwork in a mixed media process)
Final render of the artwork. The process continued after the scanning of the pencil sketch. With the use of Adobe Photoshop painting on top of the pencil sketch created a colourful and brighter mixed media touch to the execution.
