Toucan Care Sheet

"Our mission is to educate people on the proper care of toucans in captivity."

This purpose of this care sheet is to provide an overview of the basic care information to the new toucan owner in a thorough, yet understandable, way. Toucans are an exotic animal with very specialized needs quite different from other typical pet birds. They are highly adapted to a tropical environment with unique dietary requirements, health concerns, and conditions for well-being. The goal of this project is to ensure that every toucan owner is educated and prepared to properly care for their companion.

With a lot of information to be packed into a single bifold flyer, the primary challenge was to make it digestible for the reader. To solve this problem, I used a small amount of images and graphics to provide interest and draw attention to certain crucial pieces of information, breaking up the text with relevant visual cues. I kept the visuals simple, at a minimum, and mostly large, so as not to add busy-ness to an already visually heavy layout. Each section is clearly defined with large headers and matching icons, and subheaders are written in a direct, user-friendly manner, making it easy to locate key information. The resulting flyer is easy to navigate and use as a reference whenever it is needed.
