Healthcare priorities 2021: CNA Election Platform

Project Overview:
The project involved designing a document for the 2021 election platform for the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). This document served as a comprehensive list of recommendations aimed at guiding federal election candidates towards promoting better health, better care, and better value for Canadians. The main priorities highlighted included supporting health workers, expanding access to virtual care, meeting the needs of Canada's elderly population, and combating racism and discrimination in healthcare.

Challenges:
The project faced an exceptionally tight deadline, requiring efficient time management and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery. Additionally, the complexity of the subject matter required careful consideration of the information hierarchy to effectively convey key messages.

My Role:
I was responsible for the design and layout of the document, ensuring that the information provided was presented in a visually appealing and easily digestible format. This involved creating unique iconography, experimenting with different layout styles, and collaborating closely with the Lead of government relations and the Media and communications advisor to accurately represent the data and recommendations.

Creative Process:
I began by thoroughly understanding the content and objectives of the document, conducting research to identify key statistics and information to be highlighted. I then developed a concept for the design, experimenting with various visual elements and layout options to effectively communicate the priorities and recommendations outlined by the CNA. Through iterative design processes, I refined the layout, typography, and iconography to create a cohesive and impactful final product.

Strategies Used:
To ensure the success of the project, I employed design principles such as information hierarchy, typography, and visual hierarchy to prioritize and emphasize crucial data and statistics. I also utilized branding strategies to align the document with the CNA's established visual identity, reinforcing its credibility and authority in the healthcare sector.

Measurable Results:
The document received positive feedback from stakeholders and was successfully distributed to federal election candidates, raising awareness of the key healthcare issues outlined by the CNA. Its visually appealing design and clear presentation of recommendations contributed to its effectiveness in influencing policy discussions and advocating for positive change in the healthcare system.
