Infographic: The Making of A Warrior
_____

In 1974, seven peasants digging for wells outside the city of Xi’an found a head made of terracotta, low-fired pottery. This discovery led to the unearthing of thousands of life-size, startlingly life like soldiers and horses. Some were painted and many damaged, from the tomb complex of the First Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, the unifier of the China.

The discovery was unprecedented in Chinese history, with some 8,000 figures found in three pits located near
the Emperor’s mausoleum in Xi’an.The first pit contained up to 6,000 soldiers, while pit two contained more horse and chriots. The third pit contained only one chriot and 68 soldiers. The fourth pit was empty. The exhibition in Singapore, the first in south-east Asia, features 10 terracotta figures, including a general, two archers, an infantryman, a cavalry office, a charioteer, a strong man and a horse.

Infographics are graphics present complex information quickly and clearly, such as maps, journalism, technical writing, and education. This graphic visual is a form of representations, information, data or knowledge. With information graphic, computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians develop and communicate concepts using a single symbol to process the information.

Given a choice for selection of infographic and to refurbish its design, I chosen the making of warrior Terracotta. This chosen topic is not only my area of interest and I believe that all readers and audience will gain from it, as this is the greatest archaeological discovery in time.

Embarking on designing this infographics making of warrior – Terracotta, it allows readers and audience to drift further and explore more on the historical record of the terracotta warrior as well as the history of china. To begin with this project, I make a few trip down to Asian Civilizations Museum ACM for a photo shoot, collection of data and interview with the tour guide. This is also a good experience to know more about the past and making of the terracotta warriors.

The concept forcus more on the underground ancient cave wall with Chinese calligraphy characters. That is the place where they discover and led to the unearthing of thousands of life-size, startlingly life like soldiers and horses. The crack line in the background is a form of reading hierarchy for viewers. In my layout, I placed a small paragraph of introduction on the top and follow by introducing the terracotta characters and horses.

With this, I believe all readers and audience will gain from it, as this is the greatest archaeological discovery in time. - [“The making of warrior”].
