The project brief called for a 3-minute video showcasing the lives of Mumbai residents, aiming to highlight their dreams and aspirations in the bustling city. To fulfill this, we chose to interview street artist Mr. Prasad Bhandar, stationed outside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay in Mumbai's Kala Ghoda area, where he practices and sells his paintings. Our team's approach was to let the artist narrate his story without additional narration, giving him complete control over the limited time available.

The project brief initially called for a video showcasing Mumbai, and while brainstorming ideas, the team considered the typical themes of Mumbai being the city of dreams or the city that never sleeps. However, we aimed to offer a fresh perspective. Thus, we proposed highlighting the local train system, an integral part of Mumbai's daily life that residents cannot function without. Our idea was to depict the local trains as symbolic of Mumbai's inclusive nature, mirroring how the city welcomes people of all cultures. Regardless of one's economic background, culture, class, or race, the Mumbai local embraces everyone with open arms as they travel from one station to another.

"Ruse" is the compelling story of Neel, a man grappling with the complex challenges of paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and sleep paralysis. In an effort to find stability and support, Neel joins a support group designed to help individuals like him navigate their mental health issues. However, amidst the familiar routine of these group sessions, an unexpected and dramatic event occurs.
This unforeseen incident at one of the support group meetings turns Neel's world upside down. Suddenly, he finds himself under intense scrutiny, as investigators launch a thorough interrogation to uncover the truth about what happened. The questions come fast and relentless, pushing Neel to his limits as he tries to recall and explain the events of that day.
As the story unfolds, "Ruse" delves into the mystery surrounding Neel's involvement in the incident. Is he merely a victim of his own troubled mind, or is there something more sinister at play? The narrative keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, exploring themes of truth, perception, and the blurred lines between reality and delusion.
Ultimately, "Ruse" challenges the reader to question Neel's innocence. Is he a misunderstood individual caught in a web of unfortunate circumstances, or is he part of a larger, more deceptive scheme? The story leaves the audience pondering whether Neel is truly innocent or if he is, in fact, the ruse himself.
