BAUREAN TYPEFACE

"The world's first known movable type system for printing was created in China around 1040 A.D. by Bi Sheng (990–1051) during the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1127); When this technology spread to Korea during the Goryeo Dynasty in 1234, they made the metal movable-type system for printing. This led to the printing of the Jikji in 1377, the oldest extant movable metal print book."

The design of this typeface is based upon the first ever movable metal printing system, created in Korea.

Since Korean is not my first language, I also took reference from the Braun typeface designed by Wolfgang Schmittel, due to it's simplicity of each letter being made up of a 2-3 block shapes. This thereby limiting any opportunity for me to miscommunicate any letter of the Korean alphabet Hangul.
Below is the typeface in use for a poster exhibited as part of the Salford Create Festival at MediaCityUK.
It was also part of my final year degree show at Salford university.
