Peter Johansson – Under 2010

Whenever Ritator is designing an artist’s book, the project is treated as an extension of the artworks represented in the publication. In 1989, Swedish artist Peter Johansson made concrete casts containing everything from cheese to soap and buried them in a copper mine. For a number of years he then documented the deterioration of these concrete casts.

Taking inspiration from the artist’s concept, Ritator designed book jackets based on the randomness of erosion. By using a trigger sprayer filled with bleach, the book jackets were sprayed to achieve a look caught somewhere during the process of deterioration.
