Cartaz desenvolvido para o Festival de Animação de Pernambuco, ANIMAGE 2023.
Tem uma magia intrinsecamente ligada à animação e ter sido convidada a representar essa magia em cartaz é uma imensa honra e alegria. Para criar o cartaz do Animage me coloquei em uma sala de cinema, com as luzes apagando naquele momento entre-mundos, o fim e o começo de um novo mundo; criaturas ainda não conhecidas passeiam entre nós e nos contam suas histórias. Na animação, assim como no ofício de criar imagens e contar histórias independente da mídia, tudo é possível. As criaturas caminham em direção ao futuro, à página seguinte, à próxima cena, e trazem consigo, cada uma, o seu próprio mundo representado em sua imagem, na técnica usada para construí-la, nas suas cores, expressão, etc. Cada personagem participante dessa festa foi feito com uma técnica diferente: temos a menina planta feita com monotipia e lápis de cor; o gato também com monotipia e giz pastel oleoso; a cabeça de fogo com lápis de cor, a criatura estrela, com colagem e lápis de cor e assim por diante. A criatura com cabeça de fogo, a figura central, é pra mim essa energia motriz que leva todos com ela, que ilumina o caminho e também mostra as escuridões, e que também remete à luz como elemento essencial do cinema.

There is an inherently magical quality connected to animation, and being invited to represent that magic in a poster is an immense honor and joy. To create the Animage poster, I placed myself in a movie theater, with the lights dimming in that moment between worlds, the end and the beginning of a new world; creatures yet unknown wander among us and tell us their stories. In animation, much like in the craft of creating images and telling stories regardless of the medium, anything is possible. The creatures walk towards the future, the next page, the next scene, and each brings with them their own world represented in their image, in the technique used to construct it, in their colors, expression, etc. Each character participating in this celebration was made using a different technique: we have the plant girl made with monotype and colored pencils; the cat also with monotype and oil pastel; the fire head with colored pencils, the star creature with collage and colored pencils, and so on. The fire-headed creature, the central figure, is for me the driving force that takes everyone with it, that illuminates the path and also shows the darkness, and also refers to light as an essential element of cinema.
