The Local Brew
A travel guide for the designer looking to have a good time
For our Type/Text III class, our assignment was to create a new magazine or book concept and design everything from the layouts to the graphic elements. I chose to make a travel guide that specialized in the culture of beer. Each issue or volume would be dedicated to a city or region and explore its history related to the brewing (and drinking) of beer. I used my hometown of Cincinnati as my first example and Boston as another. Articles would include looks into historical breweries, local restaurants, local customs, festivals, and much more. The magazine would be geared toward designers, and include articles pertaining to the city's design culture as well. An example of this is the article on Christian Moerlein in CIncinnati, where the design concept for a new restaurant is featured.
