Animation - The Different One

This animation is part of my self-initiated project which centres around trap.

The storyline - Everyone has a circle, which represents existing social values, on his/her head. When wind blows (unforeseen circumstance happens), the circle become obstacle for everyone except for a girl who turned around at the start. When people try to get rid of the circles that obstruct their view, they become trapped by the metamorphosis of the circles. The girl who decides not to follow others and makes a different choice is the only one who is free at the end.

I intend to show that- an individual could be the only and first one who make a different choice, but he may also be the only one who is not trapped at the end. The background illustration in the trapping scene is also specially designed: organic elements are used to delineate nature as a perfect trap- carnivorous plants often have vivid colourful parts that can induce insects. Similarly, for most of us, only focusing on the beautiful obvious parts and ignoring the whole picture make us easily get trapped.

More than 800 hand drawings are created to make this animation. All the drawings are finally edited with After Effects.
