Savanna Bergquist - Case Study
Objectives:
For the top 3 fruit drawings, the concept was to make aesthetic fruits in a variety of ways. I wanted the objective of the stickers to look cartoonish, bright colors, and tailored towards those who love fruit or the look of fruit.

For the next 2, the "head in the clouds" and "heart on the floor" the concept was to create lines and shapes into something different. The objective was to make simple lines and shapes to portray and invoke an emotion.

For the mirror, I really wanted to put all the skills I've been learning to use with the reflect tool, the shape builder tool, etc. The objective was to make a mirror suggesting the funhouse style yet luxurious.
Sketches:
The process of my sketches allowed me to see my thoughts on paper. A lot of the sketches went unused. At, first I really wanted to incorporate hearts into all my sketches somehow, but I decided to go a different route.  I wanted to test my limits by using all the tools I have learned, making my designs simple yet complex.
Drafts:
These were my vector drafts. I felt they were very unfinished, I just didn't know how. I was stuck. Getting criticism helped me a lot. People suggested moving the gradient in the strawberry and changing its shape to look more like a strawberry. Next, was the apple shape to make it look more realistic as well with seeds. With the head in the clouds and the sad guy with his heart on the floor, it was too simple, I needed to add more. The fruit bouquet needed some work on the pot and placement. The planet with the abstract shapes, I decided to delete and go a different way. That's when I got the idea of a mirror, which again was too simple and did not look like a mirror, even after adding the wave effect.
Final Product:
These are the final products. The fruit met the objective of looking cartoonish, yet realistic and bright. For the line drawings, the "head in the clouds" and "heart on the floor" the objective was met by portraying an emotion with a simple drawing. For the mirror, it met the objective of the funhouse type of mirror while keeping the elegant and sophisticated look.
