Typographic experiment Prize @Cele mai frumoase carti, Romania, 2014

 

Yaacov Agam supports kinetic art and has done a great deal in the field of optical illusions. What defines him as an artist is the introdcution of the fourth dimension and simultaneity in his art, change being the only constant thing in life. His works exist only through the involvement of the viewer.

 

The book is designed as a flip book, which showes the different stages of existence that a work of art can go through. Moreover, taking into consideration that in hebrew every letter has a hidden meaning, containg a number (multiples of 9) and even the colours he uses are multiples of 9, this book has been structured in 9 chapters.

 

Starting from the idea of straight lignes and rectangles, the text has been aligned left justified set over a colored background. It is about a double language, a verbal and a visual one.

 

Binding: Coptic binding, features uninterrupted sewing steps inside the same fascile and short sewing loops, descendening on the path with the bond on the lower loop, and ascending at the ends. The sewing bond is done only on the specific joints.

 

This is book no. 7, the last one from this colection. Exemples of a perfect relathionship between content, type of binding, typography, layout, cover, phisiognomy. 

 

 

Paper: Olyn Absolute White 100 g interior, the paper chosen for the cover is a 250 g stripe embossed which allows an interrupted print, ink laying over only on the specific stripes.
