Redesign: 2024 Dodge Challenger Dodge Challenger Future Electric Muscle Car
The end of the V8 era may be near, but a former employee claims the 2024 Dodge Challenger ands Charger will use a new 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine.

Dodge said earlier this month that its 'Hemi' family of V8 engines would be phased out of the Challenger coupe and Charger sedan in late 2023, with a new age of 'eMuscle' automobiles powered entirely by electricity.

While some versions of Dodge's future muscle vehicles will use electric motors, as shown last week in the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept, it looks that some variants will continue to be supplied with petrol engines from an all-new, six-cylinder 'Hurricane' engine family.

In recent months, Cars Authority media has speculated that the 2024 Dodge Challenger twin-turbo inline-six will be used in the next generation of Dodge muscle vehicles.

However, information obtained by Drive indicates that the Hurricane six-cylinder engine will be used in the Challenger and Charger, according to an internet post by a former employee.

According to one of his social media pages, the product engineer claimed to have helped create new exhaust components for the Hurricane in the Challenger and Charger while working for Stellantis, Dodge's parent company that also owns Jeep and Ram.

During his 15-month tenure at the automaker, he oversaw the "release and design requirements of a new catalytic converter for the Dodge Charger/Challenger [Model Year 2024] 3.0-litre 'GMET6,'" according to his biography.
