An Object Of Beauty

I must admit, it felt great to see my artwork for An Object of Beauty on television. It was a wonderful project and I'm very happy to have been given the chance to be a part of it. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Art Director Anne Twomey, who offered me this assignment and gave me the creative freedom that so many commercial artists dream about.
Detail of final artwork.
This is the artwork that appears on the end pages. The only direction I received was to ensure that it complimented the cover art.
Below is the color sketch of the artwork that I quickly did in Photoshop using one of my exisiting abstract pieces. Originally we were hoping the cover would be a die cut, but it was cost prohibitative. That said, I still tried to mimic the die cut by having some of the collage pieces bleed from one letter to the next.
A few exploration sketches.
A paper stock that emulated primed canvas was used for the jacket and the lettering received an ultra-gloss lamination.
