Problem: The previous version of the CalFresh Outreach Operations Manual was an unorganized Word document. Within this project, I had to organize the content, create a visual hierarchy, obtain and embed images, and work in InDesign to create a functional manual that is now used by CalFresh campus teams.

Solution: I accomplished this project by utilizing paragraph and character styles within Indesign and by carefully paying attention to the small details, such as removing widows and orphans within the text. I made sure that the kerning, leading, styles, etc. were all consistent and visually correct. I also followed their style guide for the colors, fonts, and imagery and adjusted the design to meet the client's preferences. With that said, some changes were made once my internship was complete with this company based on client feedback and the lead designer's discretion, so below is the final version that I finished as well as the one in use as of 2023. In retrospect, I would have added hyperlinks to the titles and reformatted the table of contents to look more cohesive. I would have also obtained higher-quality images for the manual, but, overall, I felt like I learned a lot in the process of designing a 37-page operations manual that was based off of an unformatted Word document.
