Virtuoso (Monopoly Art Edition)

The following game was designed during my graduation for the subject - History of Graphic Design and Multimedia. The brief was to create an interactive design incorporating the following design periods:
Bauhaus, Art Deco, De Stijl, International Typography, New Typography, Pop Art, Post Modernism, Surrealism. We were also required to include the history of multimedia design and Game design as a part of the project.
Instead of calling it Monopoly I decided to call it "Virtuoso" since it means "a person highly skilled in a artistic pursuit". I have twisted monopoly in the arty way and included important elements and events occured during the mentioned art movements.
All the elements in the box have been re-designed incorporating the various art movements.

Player Tokens, Mini Easels and Museum Tokens.
The game has 6 player tokens since it can be played by 2 - 6 players. Each player token is a part of an important art period. For example one of the tokens is the - Campbell Soup Can made famous by the artist Andy Warhol.

In the actual Monopoly game the player builds homes and hotels on the property but in Virtuoso the player can keep exhibitions for which he can use the mini easels that are hand made. Once he has kept 4 exhibitions he can build a Museum in the name of the artist. Therefore the Museum Token. This project also gave me the opportunity to explore different materials and techinques like laser cutting and engraving.

Currency
I illustrated various artists from different art periods like Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Walter Gropius.
Instruction Manual

One thing that I have noticed about most of the board games is that they are square in shape. I decided to break the monotony and design a triangular board. I decided to do so because there are three Bauhaus schools and are a very important part in the history of deisgn and also we had to cover History of design, multimedia and game. Monopoly has free parking as one of the corners which i felt was not very necessary making it easuer to have three corners.
