Jon Nadler's profile

Journal of Law and Politics Analyzes Interaction

A labor and employment law attorney with Philadelphia law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellot, LLC, Jonathan Nadler litigates on behalf of employers and advises clients on an extensive array of workplace issues, such as union-management relations, drug testing, and hiring practices. Prior to beginning his law career, Jonathan Nadler earned a law degree from the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia. While studying at the university, Jon Nadler served on the senior editorial board of the Journal of Law & Politics. Founded in 1983, the Journal of Law & Politics explores issues at the intersection of the political process and the legal system. Founded under the guidance of then-U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge Antonin Scalia, the journal stands as the first and only scholarly publication to focus solely on non-partisan examination of the interplay between the popular will and the rule of law.

The intersection between these two domains is examined through the discussion of matters such as the judicial appointment process, campaign finance, voter district delineation, and federalism. Though wholly operated by UVA law students, the journal is an independent entity responsible for its own management and direction. Distributed quarterly, each edition of the journal contains editorials, essays, articles, and book reviews written by students, professionals, academics, and political actors. Notable past contributors to the journal include Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Ralph Nader, and Senators Mitch McConnell and Orrin Hatch. The influence of the journal is manifest in its citation by U.S. Court of Appeals and several state supreme court.
