A profile portrait inspired by several Islands in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mayottes, Comores, La Réunion,...) The natural make up made of sandalwood mask on her forehead is called M'sindanu in Comores and Masonjoany in Madagascar. Her hands are covered of henna, a natural tattoo well-known and appreciated in different cultures around the world. It is common to wear henna for big celebrations like wedding.
Inkara, the Princess with Ink hair, an illustration imagined for Folktale Week 2023. This project is special to me as I've started to write her story.
Inspired from the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. I don’t think villains are villains by nature, they just have a different narrative and they exist to challenge the protagonist. So in a parallel world, the Queen would be the hero and main character. It’s all about perspective.
