Typolyrics is a series of three typographic album covers inspired by the sonic qualities of selected songs. The following series features Red Room by Hiatus Kayote, Sham by Amit Trivedi, and Sound & Color by Alabama Shakes, focusing on vocal-inspired lyricism.
Poster 1: "Red Room" by Hiatus Kaiyote
"Red Room" by Hiatus Kaiyote combines soulful vocals and poetic lyrics. In this poster, I aim to evoke the ethereal atmosphere created by the rawness in Nai Palm’s voice and the subtle layering of sounds. Through dynamic typography, I visualize the song's abstract emotions and unique sonic landscape.
Poster 2: "Sham" by Amit Trivedi
"Sham" by Amit Trivedi is a song that seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary musical elements, crafting a profound emotional narrative. My poster for "Sham" explores the lyrical depth found within the song. Typography reflects the flow of a river, the passing of time, and the night sky that symbolizes this flow.
Poster 3: "Sound & Color" by Alabama Shakes
"Sound & Color" by Alabama Shakes is an enchanting composition known for its evocative lyrics and the dynamic vocal presence of Brittany Howard. My typographic poster for this song focuses on the imagery and color present in the lyrics. Through typography, I visualize the sharpness in the vocals, the lifts and pauses in the sonic quality of the performance, and the imagery of a new world.
