School of Thought is an exhibition of works by 25 PSU students utilizing advice from our favorite designers as a basis for our compositions.  The designer I chose was Aaron Draplin. As an artist, I admire his simple but strong logos and illustrations. As a human being, I appreciate his super kind heart and no bullshit mentality.  He sent me a few choice words of advice, but the one that stuck with me the most was, "Syrup on shit doesn't make it a pancake." I decided to illustrate this advice using his iconic style of thick lines and basic shapes.  Instead of focusing on the actual quote, I chose to break apart the quote into a new concept: a pancake getting itself into a shitty situation.  I chose to stick with a "breakfast" color palette, to help strenthen the concept.
