The series of works “Sky castles” represents the artist’s exploration of Russian constructivism through the prism of Japanese philosophy.
The appearance of tsukumogami in Japanese folklore dates back to approximately the tenth century and is part of the Shingon teaching, according to which every thing has a soul, but only ancient objects can show their character.
I believe that the same can be applied to well-worn city buildings that have passed through many generations of people.
Having freed buildings chained to the ground from captivity or torn off especially expressive pieces from them, I release them into heavenly space, where the newly created spirits will never again be dominated by the everyday function imposed by their creators.
