Finn Skårderud. Restlessness

Finn Skårderud. Restlessness
The Latvian translation of “Restlessness” (“Uro. En reise i det moderne selvet”), a book by the Norwegian psychiatrist and psychotherapist Finn Skårderud, occupies the middle ground between fiction and scientific literature.
The book was designed with its size and subject in mind. It is large, light and soft, handy and unwieldy at the same time. The font is big and easy to read; the flow of the print is unbroken, without space between paragraphs, occasionally crowding or falling off the page, thus provoking a slight anxiety, while still retaining good readability. The font size seemingly decelerates the process of reading, making you slow down and take in the text more carefully, while also allowing you to turn the pages of the thick book more often than usual. It features ascetic, witty and ambiguous illustrations by Ernests Kļaviņš, complementing the textual content with additional visual meanings.
