This project was centered around creating non-objective forms demonstrating principles of the design.
For the left maquette I decided to keep it simple with some balance and rhythm. I have been really liking swirls lately, so I kept the base sturdy with a simple double curl and then on the top I curved a spiral for some extra curves.
For the middle maquette I used variety, rhythm, balance, and proportion. As you can see I'm keeping my swirl theme with this piece. I start by making another double curl, flipping it, and then adding a balance of different circles on the edges of the main shape.
For the right maquette I created it with contrast, rhythm, and balance. This time with my double curl I squished it together to make the center denser and wider. I then added a type of braided spiral cone on top that helped contrast the smooth swirls with bumps and curves.
