113th Race to Mackinac

The 113th Race to Mackinac project began with redesigning the logo. Said original logo is referenced at the bottom. The Race to Mackinac is an annual race across Lake Michigan since 1898. Their original logo, referenced at the bottom, has traditionally included the lighthouse which signals the end of the race on Mackinac Island. Although the red and white lighthouse is a staple of the logo - also informing the color scheme - a distinction from the real event had to be made. This came in the form of replacing the lighthouse to focus on yellow and white sails. The color scheme replaced red with yellow, and a lighter shade of blue. This was accented with white. The font Bauhaus 93 is used for the Race description and Chicago Yacht Club, with the year presented in Gill Sans MT. In
order to bring everything together, the oval was skewed to increase the dynamic sense of the logo, finished with a yellow outline.
