Brief:
In this poster design, I aim to capture the essence of Harvey Dent, the most central and intricately developed character in "The Dark Knight." By highlighting his character attributes, I intend to prompt viewers who have seen the movie to gain a deeper understanding of the true protagonist, Harvey Dent, amidst the dramatic performances of Batman and the Joker.

Research and Prototype:
This stage was the most time-consuming for me, not only due to the inherently tight narrative of "The Dark Knight" but also because of the challenge of striking the optimal balance between information presentation and visual coherence. The final conclusion was reached after several failed sketches, including a double-sided poster and a composite interactive poster. The ultimate decision was to present it in the manner described above.
Poster Design:
I hope to depict Harvey's character transformation through a shift in the narrative style of the poster. Therefore, I have used the classic "I believe in Harvey Dent" as a portrait of the character's intact left facial profile, symbolizing the bright image of the White Knight. Simultaneously, the sequence of the three pieces of information mirrors the fragmented descriptions of Harvey's justice stance from different perspectives in the movie.
As the story reaches its climax, Harvey's tragedy leads to his downfall. To correspond to the "no longer hide myself" where he no longer cares about his image and beliefs, I use classic depictions of Two-Face's gaze from the film as the background. This suggests that beneath the poster burned alongside his face, he acts according to his own will. Additionally, as the movie no longer uses side-profile reflections for his actions after his fall, I extend the letter T to echo the later prominent shift in his character portrayal.

Challenge:
In this design, capturing the character's transformation is undoubtedly challenging. Introducing a complete stylistic overhaul through text design to reflect the character's evolution adds an extra layer of difficulty. Fortunately, Harvey's character traits are distinct enough, allowing me to divide the poster based on the contrast between the left and right sides of his face. This inspiration originated from my initial sketch of a double-sided poster. Even though I modified the design, I could still present it in the format of a double-sided poster, which I consider a successful adaptation.
Reflection:
This is an exceptionally meaningful project, not only because of the high degree of freedom that allows for more creative expression but also because it provides a robust challenge in terms of content selection. If given the opportunity to further optimize this project, I believe I would focus on improving the presentation of images. While using movie clips directly is feasible, it may not be the optimal solution and can create a certain sense of disconnection in the left-side design.
