Title; IMDb Homepage (mockup)

The illustration above shows a mockup for IMDb's homepage which is user friendly and simple to use.

I used a personal story, pain points and challenges faced by users to create a persona. The navigation was too broad with not enough content within to locate crucial topics. Users also felt lost and expected certain categories to contain the content they were looking for. The homepage for IMDb is so disoriented.

Key take-aways from heuristic evaluation:

I made sure that the buttons for topics with crucial information were easily visible in the homepage making it easy to navigate without having to use the search bar. I shortened the length of some lines to avoid hectic encounters when using substandard window browsers.

Key take-aways from card sorting:

I used Movies and Tv shows as the main headlines with sub-headlines on the homepage. For example, if a user wanted to watch a popular movie they would simply click on the movie button, then chose popular on the categories. The user would get results faster and on the same page.

Key take aways from user testing:

I consolidated the homepage making it more precise in order to avoid giving the user to much information they could not relate to.

Title; Webpage wireframe

I removed the Movies and Tv shows button from the Menu Page and put them on the homepage since they are major headlines which share sub-headlines on the IMDb website and should be more visible. I also changed the 'celebs' headline to 'people' to be more logical. I changed the close button to a back button for user friendliness.

If i had more time with this project i would change the color pallete used in design to a more appealing one. I would also reduce the number of lists used in consideration of users using sub-standard window browsers.
