Cath Kidston

My task is to create a design aimed at women around the age of 30, and that the design was to create a story using British humour as an influence.I found vintage clothes fascinating and one of the heavy influences in my design was the post Edwardian era, an example of this is the TV programme Downton Abbey.

The aristocrats of this era held titles, were in particular social high society and women began to have more power in politics.I felt this gave the brand image some class to its name and the trend of vintage clothes is highly fashionable and artistic at this moment in time. The images depicted on the designs show the ladies enjoying their leisurely days, pushing the baby in a pram, horse riding, having tea together and conversing with fellow ladies. I thought this story sets the tone with having a Cath Kidston bag. For example, the modern woman whom is going about her day shopping with her Cath Kidston bag. This design works well on bags and other products like camera cases, scarfs, home items etc. The colours are bold and contrasting and identify with Cath Kidston colour themes, yet at the same time stands out because of its design.
