The Hacking Competition

The Hacking Competition

Preamble
Teams of cybersecurity experts and hackers engage in competitions on "CyberPolygon" — a virtual ground representing specific business sectors. Hacker teams execute attacks, while defenders investigate and respond to these incidents.

Hardware setup
In the event venue, complex miniature layouts were installed, incorporating LCD screens, controllable lighting, mechanized parts, projections, lasers, and other lighting devices. These layouts served as metaphors for various business sectors.

Visual Concept
The primary task was to design a display board on the large screen to showcase all the competition events. It was proposed to represent miniature layouts in a virtual three-dimensional city with a sci-fi design. All events will unfold on this 3d scene.

Virtual platforms, mimicking the real physical layouts in the venue were suspended above the city. Hacker attacks and other events were displayed on both real and virtual worlds, creating an immersive experience for attendees.

Participants of the event were able to observe real-time statistics of incidents: attempted attacks, investigations, and other events. Upon closer examination of each industry, more detailed information was revealed to the audience.

Numerous scenes were designed to depict different competition events tied to various sectors and contexts. The user interface, data visualization, and show elements were carefully crafted.

Hacker Attack Scene
To set up the hacker attack scene, a volumetric video was recorded. In the post-production stage, we worked on shading and added visual effects to animate the point cloud, making it match the scene.

The event spanned four days and was directed in real-time. Hosts had the ability to control the virtual city, shift focus to different sectors, and examine details of hacker attacks, investigations, as well as team statistics.

Control Panels
In the main hall, there are pillars with screens where users can navigate through the virtual world independently using a touch-control panel.
