LIMINAL
<< "Liminal - transformative audiovisual space" is a transdisciplinary project organized by the Sensorial Theatre, which uses light as a medium and a leitmotif for the construction of a series of visual and new media art installations, defining an immersive space of playful exploration.
The project involves 3 main facilities: A geodesic dome, which acts as the host space for all the other installations, enhanced by video projections mapped on its exterior, an installation made of optic fibre wires that will recreate the atmosphere of a mystical and illuminated forest, as well as a performative installation that will use sensory theatre techniques to guide you, the participants of the journey, towards a heightened clarity in your own thoughts and emotions, leading to accessing a moment of catharsis, self-acceptance and inner stability.
The main activity of the project is the placement of the dome in the public space of Unirii Square from 30 October to 5 November 2023, which will remain open for visiting and exploring.>> (Sensorial Theatre for Timișoara Capital of Culture)
For this collaboration with Sensorial Theatre I have created generative visuals and mapped them onto the exterior of the geodesic dome. The main focus of the projection was an exploration centered around the intimate theme of the womb.
The womb, as a symbolic vessel, encapsulates the concept of growth as cells divide, differentiate, and organize to form a complex organism. I tried to incorporate visuals reminiscent of bodily fluids to enhance a visceral and evocative dimension of my project. Participants not only witness the unfolding cell-like structures but also engage with Liminal on a sensory level, connecting visually and emotionally to the themes explored. The deliberate choice to have the visuals evolve in a slow-paced manner adds a contemplative and immersive quality to my project.
