I have recently worked for the European Commission in the sustainability sector.
The intention of the European Green Deal is to facilitate the shift towards a more sustainable economy within the EU. Various policies have been released within the last few years - such as the Chemicals Sustainability Strategy, the Biodiversity Strategy and the Farm to Fork Strategy - each with their own environmentally-forward targets.
Effective communication of scientific findings to a diverse audience, including policymakers, the wider public, and young people, is crucial for the EU to meet its environmental obligations. This is especially challenging when addressing complex issues, such as the environmental effects of consumption in the EU or the establishment of a sustainable framework for food systems. These issues encompass life cycle assessment, nutrition, human health, behavioral aspects and consumer awareness.

The Book - Potato Tata

By giving a voice and a personal touch to the product (Potato), we create a relational, dynamic, and interactive reading experience.
The storytelling thread is presented in an engaging way for children, featuring a child, a cat, and the protagonist - a potato.
The graphics and iconography are straightforward and easy to understand, dismantling some preconceived notions held by children and parents.
This leisure book is educational and interactive, with language suitable for both children and adults, making it suitable for publication by various organisations of interest.
The research communication strategy endeavours to create a book targeting young readers that elucidates the fundamental tenets of life cycle analysis.
The book will expound on the generation of environmental impact across the lifecycle of a product, specifically, a potato. Additionally, it will outline how consumption choices profoundly influence environmental impact profiles.
The evaluation of a product's life cycle possesses technical and scientific significance. However, it has been translated into uncomplicated language suitable for a younger demographic, all while still remaining educational, transparent, and lucid.
The narrative employed is entertaining for children, featuring a child (Bea), a feline companion, and a product (a potato) to illustrate the environmental and social effects that arise throughout the product's life cycle. By personalizing and giving voice to the product (Tata Potato), we transform it into a dynamic and interactive reading experience. The graphics and iconography are simple and easy to understand, breaking preconceived notions by both children and parents.
This is an educational and interactive book that appeals to both children and adults, making it suitable for a range of organizations and publications.
Bea is gaining knowledge from Potato Tata about the environmental effects of product life cycles and how our consumer choices can impact them. The consumption footprint platform and calculator efficiently demonstrate this information, providing insights into your consumption profile's environmental impacts. Ultimately, this education can encourage social consumption practices towards sustainability, which is an essential element in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 12, prioritising responsible production and consumption.

The book has been designed with a strategic approach to global communication, considering three languages; British English, Italian and Portuguese.
