Wall Scape - Toy Pieces for Vertical Play

Wall Scape lets kids build cities out of puzzle-piece toys off the floor and on the wall.
Product Development
In 2010, I was challenged by Will Wright to create a geometric puzzle pattern that would connect and lock, be organic and rotationally independant. Above is my first iteration of the puzzle pattern.
A goal was to make the pattern not obvious where linking was occuring, or hiding where one piece ends and another begins. The above pattern successfully met this criteria, but turned out to be too complex to realistically manufacture at the time.
It became apparent after creating some test pieces that more teeth would be needed for support.
This is the final piece pattern we decided on for how all of our Wall Scape toys would connect.
The finished foam puzzle pieces locked together like so.
In additon to the pieces themselves and the technology we developed inside the pieces that allowed for electric interactivity, we created a series of toy buildings that could be fixed into the foam pieces to build cities.
At the base of each piece were conductive prongs that channeled a safe amount of electicity through holes in the foam.
Partner Product Branding
