Graphic Romanticism

This was an attempt at consolidating some ideas, or gathering my thoughts.
I am looking for something, artistically, but I don't quite know what it is yet.
And I am not sure it is here.

I really like simple, graphic shapes, volumetric forms, hard edges, and soft shading. I also like the clarity or distinction that the outlines bring to the shapes, but they feel very naive in some places and I want to be a big boy.

I think that really is what this painting was, more than anything. The subject is nostalgic and reminiscent of my childhood, the lighting and colors romanticize that childhood, but the stylistic choices are a little bit forced and emulate many different influences as a means of trying to break away and separate into selfhood.

Needless to say, I was aware of none of these things while I was painting it.
It's official guys, I have become a teenager!
I really like what the outlines are doing for those central trees in the image above, but it is the only part of the image where I felt they were truly successful.

Thank you for paying me attention.
