Theoretical MEMS Icemaker

For my Introduction to Microelectromechanical Devices (MEMS) class, we were tasked with a final project to showcase what we learned over the course of the semester.  My group settled on a peltier cooler affixed to a cantilever--this cooler would freeze a drop of water (droplet placement was not a part of the design) and a piezoelectric layer on the cantilever would flex the beam to remove the ice particle.  My portion of this project was to design the piezoelectric actuator, using the equations from our textbook to verify that the beam would deflect adequately to remove the ice.

For this project we created an in-class presentation and a detailed written report.
