PACKAGING: MARIAH CAREY'S TEQUILA "SONGBIRD"
IT'S TIMEEEEEEE! I wanted to tap into Mariah Carey's mega pop star popularity and timeless feel by creating a very elegant, yet eye catching tequila that pops. Mariah Carey is known all around the world for being a music idol, so when releasing this tequila I want those to feel like they're buying something fun and something people can drink that is also memorable. She is loud, stunning and famous, how can I package her tequila to fit THE Mariah Carey?
Designing the packaging starts with the colors that would catch attention to it. Mariah Carey is someone who knows how to draw attention and the thought process behind choosing these colors was so that it would draw attention like she does. The honey, red and pink are all colors of Mariah Carey and represent her personality.
This was one of the hardest parts of the assignment. Choosing the bottle. Mariah Carey is KNOWN for her song, "All I Want For Christmas Is You", so having the bottle on something like a Christmas tree or even a heart would be very eye catching. The best way for me to visualize her own "MC" logo was to draw out each bottle type and visualize how her logo would look best on it. The Christmas tree and heart simply wouldn't fit the style, so I went with a more typical bottle.
This is the logo that I came up with. It had to be elegant, yet pop to the average shopper. After catching the attention to those drinking it, or buying it, those that would figure out it is Mariah Carey's brand would see the resemblance to the logo and her. Mariah Carey is the first artist to inspire generations of people, with number 1 songs across 4 different decades. Mariah Carey was officially coined the "Songbird Supreme", so the name "Songbird" for her tequila fits.
This was the finalized packaging for Mariah Carey's tequila, Songbird. I wanted to tap into the fact that the Grammy's and other prestigious music industries call Mariah Carey the "Supreme Songbird". Getting that title in itself is an achievement and this tequila will simply carry it forward. Tapping into the fact that it's the holiday season and that Mariah Carey embodies superstardom and glam, this is all put into one elegant bottle of tequila. Mariah Carey is a timeless figure, now with a tequila that will cause lots of memories that can be remembered.
