This is just a quick breakdown of one of my recent 'Fan Art Fridays' drops (you can see more at sbdesignworks.co.uk/blog)

 

I decided to do a Bomberman illustration as it was one of my favourite games growing up.  To me, he is one of the classic gaming characters, up there with Mario and Sonic, but he seems to have been f orgotten.

 

For this piece, my aim was to create it entirely in illustrator, without sketching before hand etc. The purpose of this was to help me improve my lines and anchor placement. No underlying sketch would mean that I needed to be more accurate in the creation of my vector shapes.

 

 

I really enjoyed creating this illustration and although Bomberman is made up of simple shapes, I feel that I pulled off what I set to achieve and it has helped me to learn more about the ins and outs of Illustrator.

 

I will continue to experiment with the 'Fan Art Fridays' pieces in the coming weeks and months.
