MARCO CASAGRANDE BOOK 2/ 7

Typographic experiment Prize @Cele mai frumoase carti, Romania, 2014
Concept: Destruction / Agitation / Calm

Marco Casagrande puts beauty opposite ruin, mysticism against drama, claiming that space swallows modern man. The modern city must be destroyed by an urban chi. These ideas have generated a chaotic layout featuring text and background breaking, an open composition in continuous motion. The titles move in an enclosed space on the sheet’s edge and so do the introductive pictures that seem to detach themselves from their initial shape. This continuous commotion is alternated with calm arrangements which show the urban rooftops from different angles.

Hand sewn: The continuous chain binding features uninterrupted sewing steps inside the same fascile and short sewing loops, descendening on the path with the bond on the lower loop, and ascending at the ends. The sewing bond is done only on the specific joints.
